This is the process removing soil plugs and small portions of thatch from a lawn. The purpose is to reduce thatch buildup, decrease soil compaction, improve air and water exchange, and allow fertilizer to reach the grass roots. Aeration is usually recommended for most lawns once per year during the fall. Lawn aeration is foundational to great grass in the Spring. We do not recommend seeding in the Spring.
This lawn maintenance service involves applying seed over the existing lawn. This fills in thin areas to establish a thicker, healthier turf. For most lawns, overseeding is recommended once per year in the Fall immediately following aeration. Our seed is custom blended for the Midwest region.
A critical component of a “complete” soil. The addition of compost improves the physical structure of the soil, which in turn, promotes root development and may heighten a plant’s resistance to stress, while infusing the soil with beneficial microbes and organic matter and improving drought resistance. We offer compost from St. Louis Composting whose compost is STA Certified and OMRI Listed.
New grass seeds need a starter fertilizer that has a higher level of phosphorous and nitrogen that is quick release, thus readily available for the seeds to absorb. Quick-release nitrogen also helps seeds absorb more potassium.
The most basic Fall lawn maintenance service is a basic yard cleanup. This includes cleaning and removing dead leaves, plants, branches, flowers, gumballs, and any other old plant waste from your yard and landscaping. This service is often necessary in the late fall, and timing will depend on the types of trees and plants when they lose their leaves.
